If you should not be registered in this municipality, please contact us as soon as possible to notify us of where you live. The simplest way to do this is by using our e-service “Report a change of address” (“Flyttanmälan”).

When you are listed in the Swedish Population Register under a municipality only, you generally have the same rights and obligations as someone who is registered at a specific address. However, there are certain exceptions.

The consequences of being registered under a municipality only:

• It can influence certain government agency decisions relating to matters such as housing benefit, for example.
• It can make it difficult for you to communicate with government agencies, businesses and private individuals, since you might not receive letters and other correspondence.
• In order to receive your post while you are listed in the Swedish Population Register under a municipality only, you need to register a special postal address.

Temporary registration under a municipality only

From 1 September 2022, the Swedish Tax Agency can register an individual on a temporary basis under a municipality only, if the person’s registered address is likely to be incorrect, and this causes problems for someone else who owns, rents or is registered at the property or apartment in question. Temporary registration applies until we determine the address at which the individual should be listed.
