Check someone else's ID card
If you work at a bank, for example, and wish to know whether or not an ID card has been blocked, you can use the details on the card to call and check the ID card's validity.
- The ID cards that have a blue-orange color are issued from June 2022. You can check these by calling 010 331 10 10.
- The ID cards that have a green color are issued between September 2017 and June 2022. You can check these by calling 010 331 10 10.
Identity cards for people on the Swedish population register
The ID cards issued since June 2009 by the Swedish Tax Agency are known as “Identity card for people registered for population purposes in Sweden”. The card has been developed in cooperation with the National Forensic Centre (previously known as the National Laboratory of Forensic Science), the Swedish Police and card provider.
Security features to verify whether an ID card issued from June 2022 is genuine
The following description shows how you can check if an ID card issued by the Tax Agency from Juni 2022 is genuine.

The numbers in the image are as follows.
- The UV pattern becomes visible in a white colour when exposed to UV light.
- Portraits and times of birth are displayed alternately at different angles in the ribbed surface, in addition there is a deep effect in the image.
- The cardholder's portrait and the last four digits of the social security number are perforated through the card.
- A portrait sketch is visible in the clear window on the card.
- Different shape of the windows on the front- and backside.
- The card has different patterns that contain microtext.
Security features to verify whether ID cards issued from September 2017 to May 2022 are genuine

The numbers in the image are as follows.
- The UV pattern becomes visible in a blue colour when exposed to UV light.
- The cardholder's portrait and the text “IDK” have been embossed in the card.
- Portraits and social security numbers are displayed alternately in the ribbed surface.
- A portrait sketch is visible in the clear window on the card.
- The hologram in the right part of the photograph changes color and shows different patterns.
- The card has an embossed pattern containing microtext (to facilitate checks).
