If you live in an apartment, your listing in the Swedish Population Register must include your apartment number. This number is listed in the Swedish Apartment Register. Your apartment number is part of your address. It consists of four digits that indicate which floor your apartment is on, and where on that floor it is located. You will find your apartment number in the entrance to your apartment building, on your front door, on your mailbox, or in your purchase agreement or rental contract.
If you don’t know your apartment number, please contact the property owner or your tenant-owner association. Please note that property owners and tenant-owner associations sometimes have their own numbering systems for their apartment lists. You must specify the apartment number listed in the Swedish Apartment Register.

All residential apartments in Sweden are listed in the Swedish Apartment Register. An insight into the Swedish population’s living arrangements is required for knowledge-based decision-making and research. However no personal data relating to the individual(s) living in an apartment are recorded in the Apartment Register.
Developed by the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority, the Apartment Register enables Statistics Sweden (“SCB”) to produce statistics relating to households and housing in Sweden. These statistics are required for planning and resource allocation, for example, at the national, regional and municipal level. Details of new and amended apartment numbers are decided on by the relevant municipality, and then forwarded to the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority.
