Please notify the Swedish Tax Agency of a special postal address if you would like your mail to be sent to an address other than your registered address for at least six months. The address may be in Sweden or abroad. It does not cost anything to register a special postal address.
A special postal address is complementary to your listed address in the Swedish Population Register. The Swedish Tax Agency cannot therefore register your listed address as a special postal address.
Your listed address will not be changed if you register a special postal address.
If you notify us that you are moving to a new address, your special postal address will not be deregistered.
You can register a special postal address in Sweden or abroad via this e-service. You should submit your notification in advance, but not more than one month before you want the special postal address to come into effect. You can also use this e-service to deregister a special postal address. The e-service is only available in Swedish.
Don’t submit another notification about the same matter. If you have a question about your registration, or if you would like to make any changes, please call our tax information service on 0771 567 567, or +46 8 564 851 60 from outside Sweden.
You can register a special postal address if, for example, you:
Please note: if you need to register a new address for a deceased person’s estate, different rules apply.
You can register a c/o (“care of”) special postal address if you want someone else to take care of your mail.
You should write “c/o” before the name and address of the person who will receive mail on your behalf.
If you are a lodger or subletting a property, do not write c/o when you notify us of your change of address. Your name should be on the door and on the mailbox.
As a trustee or administrator, you can notify us that your client’s mail should be sent to your address. You can do this by filling in form SKV 7844 and posting it to the Swedish Tax Agency. Please also enclose a copy of your authorisation as a trustee or administrator.
Please note that the special postal address for your client will not be changed automatically if you move to a new address.
However, you can request mail redirection. This means that mail sent to your previous address will be forwarded to your new address. You can request mail redirection from the Swedish change of address service (“Svensk Adressändring”) for a fee. Keep in mind that mail redirection will not change your registered address.
The special postal address for your client will not be cancelled if your client dies.
The details of a special postal address are distributed automatically to most public authorities. Businesses can also access this population registration information. To do so, however, they must request the information from the Swedish state personal address register (SPAR), which is managed by the Swedish Tax Agency.
However, you may need to provide your special postal address to membership organisations, publication subscription services and companies from which you wish to receive post. You must notify private individuals of your special postal address yourself.
You can use this e-service to register a special postal address in Sweden or abroad. If you are going to live abroad for more than one year, you should not register a special postal address. You should notify us that you have moved abroad instead. You can find more information about this under “Moving abroad”.
To deregister a special postal address, you must submit a notification via our special postal address e-service.
If you are unable to use this e-service, you can notify us by filling in form SKV 7844. Post the form to the address stated on it.
Please note that your special postal address will not be deregistered automatically if you register a change of address.
